'Beach, Bracing, Some Blue Sky' and other small paintings on board....

Sunshine this evening after some cloudy and damp conditions today, which is very welcome. As were the almost tropical conditions over last weekend and earlier in the week - warmth from early morning, blue skies and balmy evenings - wonderful. I have been busy getting one or two larger paintings framed, wrapping prints for display at Art Space Gallery, St Ives printing cards - and creating more small, square artworks (see below). The first is hanging at St Ives Society of Artists Mariners Gallery. 'Beach, Sea Mist' oil on board, 13.5 x 13.5 cm.   SOLD The following can be found at Art Space Gallery (unless marked sold). Cornwall Hospice Care Charity Art Auction

Cornwall Hospice Care Charity Art Auction, which took place at the Exchange Gallery , Penzance on Saturday 13 May, 2017, attracted over 100 lots donated by mainly local artists.  Although initially less busy than the previous art fundraising auction for St Julia's and Mount Edgcumbe hospices at The Exchange, all of the submissions sold on the night thanks to the efforts of auctioneer David Lay, whose performance, sometimes bordering outrageous but hugely entertaining, swept the audience through a whirlwind 2 hours of laughs and financial outlay.  On arrival visitors received a glass of bubbly, delicious canapes from Archie Browns  and viewed the artworks, to the impressive saxophone accompaniment provided by glamorous all-female quartet 'Cafe Sax'.   There were bargains to be had for buyers delighted to acquire pieces of original art below market price and also many big selling artworks attracting a flurry of bidding and counter bidding to benefit this worthwhile cause.

All of the framed square paintings shown below can be found at Art Space Gallery, St Ives with the exception of 'The Beach in May' which will arrive in the next few days.   The rectangular paintings are awaiting a trip to the framers, to be mounted prior to delivery to the browsers at St Ives Society of Artists Mariners Gallery. It's April! New work to start the month and I think I've managed to find a fairly straightforward way to straighten, crop, adjust colour and exposure and resize artwork images, using a combination of Google Photos and PicMonkey.  For the first time since acquiring the new desktop computer, posting to my blog has been stress-free.
